I like sharing music. Here's what I've been listening to lately - new-ish indie stuff and some old but classic albums.
Holy crap this album is so good. I know that's not news to some people but I was unaware of its existence until recently and now it might be one of my all time favorites. The Way Young Lovers Do kind of blows my mind.
Jason Schwartzman writes awesome pop songs! And is in some of my favorite movies. West Coast isn't on this album but it's my favorite Coconut Records song.
Margot & the Nuclear So and So's are lovely. I'd call them smartly pretty. Incidentally, that phrase was a band name suggested by So and So of Teen Girl Squad. Sometimes the universe makes sense. I especially appreciate that the band name is a nod to Margot Tenenbaum. I enjoy it when the things I love converge on each other.
Thanks to Nick for this one. Sweeping and epic psychedelic rock - now with 100% more mariachi horns! And the mellow tracks are lovely and poignant. Wow. Plus, the cover art is great!
And Otis Redding. He's kind of an all-time favorite. But I've neglected him. I decided to remedy the situation and put some of my favorites by him on my iTunes...Try A Little Tenderness and That's How Strong My Love Is are the ones I listen to over and over again.
Anyone have any other suggestions for me? I kind of thrive on having new sounds to listen to.
