Urban Loft

A few of my layouts with Cocoa Daisy's July kit, Urban Loft. It's totally gorgeous. The kit, that is. I'm in love with the Sassafras Lass goodies that come with this one. Sunshine Broadcast might be my favorite line yet. It was so much fun to play with.

On a couple layouts this month, I was working through some stuff. Hidden journaling and sad face pictures and all that. Don't worry, I feel way better now. I just had to get it out. Here's one more.

summer album preview

Hi everyone!

So, I found out today that summer school physical science and biology, which I would have been teaching, are not running due to low enrollment. On the down side, I won't make any extra money this summer. Which does kind of rot. But on the up side, I'll have more free time. Which I plan to divide amongst the following pursuits: projects (craft, home improvement, sewing, etc), working out, prepping for AP chem, reading, and hanging out with folks. Which sounds awesome, actually. So I'm disappointed, but not very. 

Anyway, this morning I prepared a little album for all my summer happenings. Here are some previews. 

The album itself is an October Afternoon mini-album with vintage flashcard pages. 

I gesso-ed the cover and all the pages, then added some extra patterned paper pages. 

On some of the pages, I used these clear American Crafts stickers I've had hanging around for a while, and buttons. 

And on other pages I used chipboard bits (mostly Basic Grey and Sassafras Lass) and feathers. 

There are a fair number of doilies as well. I love doilies a lot lately. 

I'll be adding to it as the mood strikes me throughout the summer. I'll share the entire thing when it's done.

leftovers

Popping in to share a layout a put together using old bits and pieces from my stash. I really need to do layouts like this more often. The heap of craft supplies I own is unmanageable. 

The oldest bit on this layout is from like 2005 or something. 

But the camera sticker is brand new. 

I made a sort of shaker box by pouring a bunch of glitter behind the overlay, then taping up the edges. It's sloppy, but most of the stuff I make is.

well this is taking more paint than I expected

Wouldn't you think one can of spray paint would be enough for a small bookcase? That's what I thought. But I ran out of paint about 3/4 of the way down. Then I accidentally thought that Home Depot sells Valspar paint when in fact it is Lowe's. They're equally distant from my house, but in opposite directions. So that was fun. 

But surely one can is enough for that one small chair? Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I'm not going back out today. Finishing up the chair will have to wait until tomorrow. 

In other news, my right hand is kind of turquoise.

I'm excited to put them together in a corner of my house. I think there might be a dinosaur involved, too. I'll show you when it's finished.

another Urban Loft preview

One more quick peek of Cocoa Daisy's July kit, Urban Loft. This is my favorite hidden journaling pocket that I've ever made, by the way. The pocket itself is made of a cellophane envelope I had in my stash. The journaling is folded up, middle school note style, and tied with a pretty velvet ribbon from the kit. And I added the feather. It seemed like a nice touch. 

Patterned paper circles, paint spatter, mod podge, and glitter. Whee! Check out the reveal on June 28th.

Urban Loft Sneak Peek!

Here are a few little glimpses at my projects with Cocoa Daisy's July kit, Urban Loft. I absolutely adore this one. It's right up my alley. Someone said it has a very Anthropologie feel. It's been so much fun to work with!

a june wedding

Walt has been a friend of my family's for a really long time - 20 years maybe. Last Saturday, he married Sara and we went down to Monroe, CT for the wedding. It was a great day - pretty weather, pretty bride, lovely ceremony, fun reception - we had a blast! Here are some of the pictures I took. 

I took all of them with the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone (Lens - Jimmy, film - Ina's 1935, flash - standard). I'm thinking I should switch up the settings, though. I use these all the time and I like the effect but they're washed out and they print horribly. And I need to take more pictures with my real camera. Most of my recent pictures are with gimmicky camera apps. I still need to work on taking better pictures. Another summer project, maybe. 

It's my first official day of summer vacation and I've got quite a to-do list. Half fun and half work. I'm off to tackle it. Have a great day!

 

long time no see

Sorry for the extended hiatus. What happened is this: My boyfriend and I broke up and I had a bad week. OK, a bad week and a half. Then I felt better but the school year was ending and I had bunches of work to do. And today was the last day of school for the students. I'm a little sad to see them go because my students this year were pretty awesome. See?

I have to go in tomorrow for one more day of professional development (a make up day from one of our ridiculous many snow days this school year). And then I'm done. Unless summer school runs, in which case I'll be doing that. 

I have a lot of projects planned for the summer. Cocoa Daisy's July kit is incredible - peeks will be coming soon. And a more regular blogging schedule will be in effect.

Welcome to June, everyone! I can't believe how close we are to summer vacation! 

A couple more layouts to share...

More layouts from Cocoa Daisy's spring crop a few weeks ago. I used this one for two challenges. One was to scrap on a black background and the other was to scrap your personal style. So I did one about my usual work clothes. 

And this one was an album cover inspiration challenge...

I did a ton of layouts that weekend. I'm really looking forward to the next one. :)
