So, instead of my usual long list of resolutions, this year I kept it simple and made two. Two goals, actually. Ones that I can measure.
1. To read at least 2 books per month.
2. To run at least 16 miles per week.
Here's my January report:
I read...
The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe
The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner
Freedom by Jonathan Franzen.
And about 1/3 of The Social Animal by David Brooks
Freedom is awesome. Definitely read that one.
And I ran:
83.38 miles
(which is about 18.8 miles per week).
My running milestone for the month was 5 miles in 45 minutes (9 minute miles). Which is fast, for me. I've been working on speed since I'm on the treadmill until spring. When I started running again back in November I was really slow. Like 11 minute mile slow. So I'm pretty happy to be able to do 9 lately.
I should probably break the miles up into 4 4-mile runs, but I tend to push it at the beginning of the week to make sure I get the miles in. The treadmill at the gym makes me stop running after 70 minutes, which is annoying.
By the way, that's one of my February Cocoa Daisy layouts up there.
I'll post the rest of them tomorrow.
