A Pocketful of Licorice

I have a couple weeks to catch up on. oops. I did all these pages last night. 

I took a bunch of pictures with Instagram at Paola's baby shower, so I decided to use a different type of page for that event. 

It was interesting to work with a different layout. I should do that more often. 

My AP kids are pretty much done at this point. I'm a little sad to see them go.

hard things and easy things

It's been an interesting week, though it may be hard to tell from this week's pages. 

I need to work on taking more pictures of people. I always forget about that. 

I did take a quick picture of an outfit I've worn about 20 times this year so far, though. Black tights and saddle shoes are my jam. 

It's actually been kind of a crappy week, but I'm trying to focus on the good things, like this delicious beer I drank with dinner on Thursday night. 

There's a whole lot of crap going on here, so I'll try to break it down by layer. First, there's this pocket. It holds some thoughts I wrote down. I realize 90% of my journaling in this album is hidden. Sometimes it's for aesthetic reasons, but usually it's because I'm kind of private about things that I think. 

Then there's a title I hand-cut out of glittery cardstock. I decided to try to participate in Moorea Seal's 52 Lists project. I love lists, so it's right up my alley. I already have an entire art journal called Lists, so why not? I decided to put the lists in 9 pocket trading card page protectors throughout my albums. This one will hold the first nine. I need to catch up. I've only done one so far. 

And finally, the second half of this week. 

We had our sixth snow day of the year on Tuesday. I bought the entire first season of Girls on Amazon and watched all of it. Obsessed.

Is March half over already?

It doesn't seem possible. Here are the pages I did this week. 

I crossed out my student's name above, but honestly, I adore that picture so much. It's pretty much the greatest thing I've ever seen. That's why it's on my bulletin board. 

There are signs of spring around here, although today was pretty chilly. 

I'm really having fun with this project. I don't know that I'll ever go back to 12x12. I have little to no interest in that format these days. 99% of my layouts were about little moments like these, anyway. I should have made the switch ages ago.

organizing for Project Life

Today, I thought I'd show you where I keep all my PL supplies. I don't mean to brag (yes I do), but I have the most awesome piece of scrapbooking storage furniture ever made. It wasn't actually made to store scrap supplies, but it's as if it were. What I'm trying to say is that I love this piece a lot. It might be my favorite piece of furniture. 

I think I've shared pictures of it before. My Dad had this file cabinet in his office. I think it came with the space. In his business, he has a lot of filing needs, but this cabinet was meant to be a card catalog, I think. The drawers were way too shallow to be of any use to him, but are absolutely perfect for scrapbooking supplies, it turns out. So he gave it to me. It's just wide enough for 12x12 paper, and I've been using it for a few years now. 

When I started with Project Life, and then (somewhat obsessively) creating 3x4 and 6x4 cards for use with PL, I realized I'd need a way to organize them in some useful way, so I turned one drawer of the cabinet into the PL storage space. It's the second drawer down, so if I'm sitting at my desk, it's at a convenient height for me to use. 

I made tabs for the card themes I use most so I can find what I want easily. 3x4 cards are on one side and 6x4 on the other. So I guess I'm using the cabinet as a card catalog, as it was (I believe) intended to be used. At least in this drawer. The other drawers contain 12x12 papers, cardstock, acrylic stamps, rub-ons, scraps, etc. I'd say about 80-90% of the supplies I use regularly are in here. 

The drawers are so long that I can fit containers for tags, wood veneer, and other PL bits behind the cards. 

I've been fine-tuning this system for a while and I'm pretty happy with it for now.

One of my friends at work was cleaning out her desk recently and found this. 

Remember those? From back when teachers used stamps on student work? Mine used to, anyway. I don't think too many of us use stamps anymore, although I still use stickers and you'd be surprised how much high school students like getting them. 

Anyway, she didn't want it. And I didn't want it for school, but I most definitely wanted it for home! 

The bottom set is clear embossed on charcoal cardstock. 

Hey, it's not all sunshine and puppies around here. I might need them.

I have a thing for Elvis Costello, clearly. Not sure where or how I'll end up using some of those. I mean, I hope I don't have to use the one about cutting out a love tumor any time soon. That's not a nice thought. But they were fun to make. 

And I guess I'll have to find a way to treat myself. I have a card for it now. I'm saying "treat yo self" in my head in Tom Haverford's voice and it's killing me.
