Featuring more hand-made cards. Hand-lettering, letterpress, stamping, watercolor. Those are my favorites.
This one just highlights some of the things my nieces were up to that summer. Claire was digging Frozen, and Georgia was basically just looking cute.
I used some packaging from recent purchases on this layout (FRESH, zebras).
And that's it for September. Fewer layouts from these months. I've never done the one layout a week thing. I just scrapbook when I have something to say. It seems to work well for me.
Anyway, next week I'll have October 2014 up. Thanks for stopping by.
Hey everyone! It's a new year, and we're having the weirdest January weather ever. It's currently raining and thundering and 56 degrees. In Connecticut. In January.
Anyway, I wanted to share a little project I put together yesterday. I made a booklet to jot down my goals and intentions for 2016 and to record my progress. I know I'm a little late with this. I wrote the list on December 31, but hadn't found the time or inspiration to do anything with it. Yesterday, I got a big box of January stuff from Studio Calico and seeing all the patterned paper was just the jolt I needed, I guess. Mainly, I wanted to do something with that "this is your year" vellum. It came together pretty quickly. I usually don't limit myself to working with a kit anymore. I haven't since I was on a creative team (so, since maybe 2012?). In fact, I don't even keep my Studio Calico kits together. As soon as I unpack them, I put all the pieces away, mixed in with all my other supplies. I know. It's probably weird. But I will admit that using a kit makes things go much faster.
I drew the word "now" backwards on black cardstock, then cut it out and adhered it to the vellum for the cover. I bound it by punching holes along the left-hand edges of the pages and drawing black embroidery floss through with a needle.
I usually choose a word to focus on throughout the year, like a lot of people do. This year's is now. Mainly because my mind is so far away sometimes. I daydream a lot, and I'm terrible about looking at my phone when I'm with others. I want to work on being more present. Just being into whatever is going on at the moment instead of going through to-do lists, thinking about the past or the future, checking Facebook. I'm hoping the yoga will help with that.
I added that label sticker because I didn't like how the original words turned out. I think both of these papers are by Ashley Goldberg.
I'm still pretty into painting stuff with watercolors. The "always" sticker is covering up another mistake. I forgot to leave room for binding. It says "always" underneath the sticker, too, except it's half hidden.
This is my favorite page. Mainly because I love the zebra paper so much. Reminds me of Margot Tenenbaum's bedroom wallpaper.
Learn every day is something I've been working on for a while now. I listen to podcasts while I cook and/or clean up the kitchen.
I'm going to try to be good about keeping track of progress and adding photos as the year goes on. Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my work.
Continuing with 2014, today I'm sharing the rest of June. Some months, I have a lot going on, others not so much. Looks like a lot happened in June.
The pictures on this layout were so colorful that I stayed pretty neutral with everything else. A little stamping and a chipboard accent from Studio Calico.
Ah, that brief period of time when I was into putting text on my pictures with an app (I forget which one). That phase didn't last very long.
But I will always like writing on my pictures with a Sharpie.
And that's it for June. I used some printables from Studio Calico here.
